Learn to be happy
Because happiness is not a destination to reach, but something to be continuously learned. A journey that anyone can start — and does not have to be traveled alone.
It Starts with Them. For Every One of Us.
For more than 20 years, Odapus (people living with Lupus) and our friends with low vision have taught us one thing that cannot be learned from books: that happiness can be found even in the toughest conditions. They are the heart of this journey — and they always will be.
The lesson is too valuable to stop at just one community — because life's trials are no one's exclusive right. We choose to bring it wider: the following three pillars are open to anyone, in any condition, who is looking for their own way to survive, grow, and make an impact.
Bertahan Bahagia
Accompanying you to find peace and happiness amidst the life challenges you are facing
Bertumbuh Bahagia
Empowering you to be self-sufficient by transforming your life challenges into solutions for others.
Berdampak Bahagia
Inviting you to take an active role, because happiness will feel more complete when you can be useful to others
Happiness is born from the right outlook and perception of life's events.
What do they say?
What those who have participated in and supported the Syamsi Dhuha Foundation programs say
Dian Triansyah Djani
Former Indonesian Ambassador to the UN
The presentation of the 2012 Sasakawa Health Prize to the Syamsi Dhuha Foundation at the UN Headquarters in Geneva is still fresh in my memory. As the Indonesian Ambassador to the UN, I felt proud of the achievement of one of the Indonesian NGOs that received international recognition — a form of Indonesia's humanitarian diplomacy in the global forum. The scholarship program for people with disabilities and autoimmune diseases is truly extraordinary. It feels proud to know Mbak Dian and Mas Eko.
dr. Rachmat Gunadi Wachjudi, SpPD-KR
Internal Medicine Specialist, Rheumatology Consultant
Two decades of SDF's journey is clear proof that passion, dedication, and collaboration can bring about big changes. As a doctor who cares about autoimmune diseases, I feel very honored to be a part of this noble journey; witnessing firsthand how SDF does not just accompany, but also empowers patients to rise beyond limitations and achieve a better quality of life. My deep impression of SDF lies in its holistic approach — which includes medical, educational, and socio-economic aspects, as well as cross-cultural and international relations. Thanks to the inspiring leadership of Ibu Dian Syarief, SDF has become a role model for collaboration between patients, doctors, and communities, both nationally and internationally.
Ardinal Purbowo
Person with Low Vision
At SDF Bandung, I have experienced a 'mentarimorfosa' (metamorphosis) from the old Bowo to the Bowo I am today. I have participated in various trainings such as aromatherapy massage, talking computers, plant cultivation development, and business workshops Alhamdulillahnow I am able to run a massage and boarding house business. BriCane is the most beautiful gift from SDF for me — because BriCane is the cane I have always dreamed of and it means a lot to me. My hope is that SDF continues to triumph and advance further in developing assistive tools for the visually impaired.
Irfan Setiaputra
Former President Director of Garuda Indonesia
I personally have known Pak Eko and Dian since college days, and I do not doubt even a bit their commitment and dedication to making meaningful contributions to humanity and education. Of course, I am happy to support SDF in its organizational activities, to the best of my ability.
Nurhayati Subakat
Founder & Main Commissioner of PT Paragon Technology and Innovation
